Human Rights Education Centre is a joint initiative between the centre and Community Healing Network. The founding principles and concept of the Centre can be traced from Amnesty International Rights Education Action Programme( AI-REAP) work on Human Rights Education.

In November 2006 the REAP  Network met in Warsaw Poland, and developed some guidlines on training for human rights education and focus. Based on those recommendations and South African context the Human Rights Education centres focuses on Human Rights Education on the themes of:

  • Human Rights Education methodology using popular education such case studies, role plays, theatre, drama, dance, music, songs, storytelling etc.
  • Planning, monitoring, evaluation and reflection  - action and reflection.

Trainers involved with the Human Rights Education Centre are community activists  linked to Amnesty International South Africa since 2005 and other civil society organisations.
